Saturday, March 21 | 10am - noon The heroin epidemic is currently sweeping Greater Cincinnati, impacting our lives and our city. Join us at the Westwood Library for a panel discussion with the leaders on the frontlines of the fight, including:

Carol Baden (Founder - Community Recover Project; Founder - People Advocating Recovery Southwest Ohio) Since founding Community Recovery Project and People Advocating Recovery Southwest Ohio, Carol has worked full-time to assist those affected by the opioid epidemic. Both organizations were founded to bridge the existing gaps, facilitate relationships and dialogue amongst the many entities involved in this public health crisis. Prior to founding both organizations, Carole worked as a medical professional in inpatient and outpatient settings for 30 years.

Josh Arnold (Vice President, Talbert House) Josh has a Bachelors Degree from the University of Tennessee in Criminal Justice and a Master’s Degree in Community Counseling from Xavier University. Josh is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Ohio and in his 16 years with Talbert House has worked with adults with severe and persistent mental illness, substance abuse and has overseen Talbert House’s Youth and Adolescent Services. He currently leads the agency’s Court and Corrections Service line and is a graduate of Executive Curriculum for Emerging Leaders and Leadership Cincinnati.

Angela Vance (LGBTQ Liaison Officer, Cincinnati Police Department) Angela was born and raised in Cincinnati. She graduated from Mariemont High school prior to joining the Air Force in 1987 where she was a Law Enforcement Specialist. In 1990, Angela joined the Cincinnati Police Department where she is currently employed as one of Cincinnati's finest policewomen. Throughout her career, she's been assigned to various units including the Firearms Training Unit and the Police Academy. Her new role in the department is the LGBT Liaison for the City of Cincinnati and it's citizens.

Jon Harmon (Legislative Director, Cincinnati City Councilman Chris Seelbach) Originally from Orange County, Jon moved to Cincinnati to attend the University of Cincinnati and quickly fell in love with the city. He made a career change from non-profit arts management to politics and government when Chris Seelbach asked him to manager his campaign for city council. After helping Chris win a seat on Cincinnati City Council, Jon joined Councilman Seelbach’s staff at City Hall. Jon’s passions for the city are reviving the pedestrian character of our neighborhoods that led to our great business districts, growing local businesses, especially family-owned shops and finding ways to promote more environmentally friendly living in Cincinnati.

Afterwards, the conversation will continue at the The Public House.
