Leadership: Creating a Shared Future in a Fractured World

2018-09-06 18:00:002018-09-0619:30:00

Our deepest sympathies go out to the victims of this morning's tragedy and their families and friends.

For those registered for tonight's panel, the event will continue as planned. In a time of distress, we want to provide a positive discussion on achieving a brighter future.

It's hardly a secret that, despite the many technologies and devices we have to connect us, the world feels more divided than ever. So how do we come together -- as volunteers, as a city, as a nation, as peers and colleagues -- to get the big, important work done? How can we create a shared vision for the future if we can't even agree on what the future should be? What is a leader's role in creating that shared vision and, perhaps most importantly, how can we as leaders take the first step to bring others to the table?

We look forward to a robust panel with several local leaders well-versed in navigating many sides of a fractured world: Laura Brunner, President & CEO of the Greater Cincinnati Redevelopment Authority, which focuses on developing and financing projects that reduce poverty, improve land value and create well-paying jobs; Mark Dawes, Entrepreneur in Residence at Hillman Accelerator, a start-up investment firm that focuses on minority and female-led businesses; Eddie Tyner, Midwest Region President of the Gannett network of news publishers, which includes the Cincinnati Enquirer; and Beth Robinson, President & CEO of the Uptown Consortium, which is dedicated to the long-term sustainability of Avondale, Clifton, Corryville, CUF and Mt. Auburn. Come with your questions as our panelists offer practical advice for building consensus and bridges, rather than walls. This event will take place on the fourth floor of Union Hall in its Homeroom area.
