State Roadway Cleanup

2014-04-26 09:00:002014-04-2614:30:00
Get ready for some massive spring cleaning! On Saturday, April 26 from 9 am to 2:30 pm we'll be partnering with ODOT and Keep Cincinnati Beautiful to take on a multi-site Tri-state transformation. We’ll be cleaning 14 (that’s right, we said 14!)  highway sites throughout Cincinnati. Our teams will handle litter cleanup, graffiti removal, brush trimming and clearing, and general landscaping in areas throughout the city. Mark your calendars now because we’ll need several volunteers for this event. It’s time to show Cincinnati some GBC muscle!

Since this event will cover such a wide area, we ask that you sign up for one of three zones. Each zone will have a designated meeting area. On the day of the event, volunteers will arrive at the meeting location for their zone, then they will be  divided into smaller groups and will carpool or walk to their highway site.

  • Zone 1: North End- Ohio Department of Transportation Garage , 1400 Seymour Ave, Carthage, Cincinnati, OH. Sites include:
    • I-75 near Paddock road
    • I-71 near Stewart road
    • I-75 at Towne St
  • Zone 2: West End- Cincinnati Museum Center/Union Terminal, 1301 Western Ave., Cincinnati, OH. Sites include:
    • Route 50 on the west side
    • Liberty Street near I-75
    • I-75 at 8th St.
    • Spring Grove Ave
    • Ezzard Charles
    • Winchell/Liberty/Bank
    • I-75 at Western Hills Viaduct
  • Zone 3: East End- Theodore M. Berry International Friendship Park, 925 Riverside Drive, Cincinnati, Ohio 45202. Sites include:
    • Sections of I-71 near the MLK overpass and Dana Ave. exit
    • Route 52 near riverside drive
We also ask that you please bring a water bottle to this event. After a hard day’s work, you’ll get the chance to enjoy some craft brews at Mad Tree Brewing (5164 Kennedy Ave.) and some quality grub from a few of Cincinnati’s favorite food trucks with your fellow volunteers! Finally, remember, safety first! You will be working next to busy highways, so please be cautious, use common sense and respect your surroundings and fellow volunteers. *Note: Everyone must fill out the online registration for this event individually so we can have a waiver on file for all participants.  Please do not use the event form to book multiple people.
